Merilyn Moos

Merilyn Moos is a retired lecturer and writer.. She is the author of the semi-autobiographical novel: 'The Language of Silence' and a book about being second generation in Britain is also expected to be published soon.
She was born in Oxford, grew up in Durham, then went to St Anne's College, University of Oxford where she obtained a degree in PPE, and subsequently an MA in Contemporary Cultural Studies under Stuart Hall. She has lived in London now for over forty years.
Always on the left, she was active in the lecturers' union, (ATTI, then NATFHE, then UCU) and in its rank and file movement, and had published many articles on Government education policy towards the 16+s. She has also always been committed to anti-racist struggles.
She has one son.
Both her parents were anti-Nazi activists, fleeing soon after the Nazi take-over in Germany. Her father, whom this book is a biography of, almost never talked to his daughter about the past.. It was the author's desire to construct and understand his history which gave rise to this book.
